AG122 - Mobile Plant Operator

Thomas Armstrong (Aggregates) Ltd, part of the Thomas Armstrong Group, is a well-established and respected supplier of high-quality aggregates, sands, gravels, and recycled materials across Cumbria and beyond.

We are now looking to recruit a Mobile Plant Operator to join our team at Cardewmires Quarry, Dalston, Nr. Carlisle.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy quarry operation, working within a well-established and experienced team. You will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the site.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 06:30 – 16:30
(47.5 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)

Overtime paid at time and a half after 39 hours
Occasional Saturday working may be required

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operating mobile plant, including loading shovel, safely and efficiently
• Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance on equipment
• Supporting the production and loading of materials on site
• Working closely with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth site operations
• Adhering to all health and safety procedures at all times

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in operating a loading shovel (essential)
• Ideally experienced with other types of mobile plant
• Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of site procedures
• A team player with good communication skills
• Well organised and able to work to deadlines
• Reliable, proactive, and takes pride in their work

Additional Information

• This is a full-time, permanent role
• 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)
• Based on-site at Cardewmires Quarry
• Start date: As soon as possible
