Work commences on multi-million pound state-of-the-art block production facility!

Work is now underway to replace our existing William Rainford Ltd concrete block plant in Aintree, Merseyside with a brand new multi-million pound turn-key factory using the very latest state-of-the-art technology. This high tech, high volume facility will replace our existing plant, more than doubling production capacity and significantly expanding the range of products manufactured.

The very latest energy conservation technologies are being utilised throughout the facility including an advanced ‘hot box’ humidity controlled curing system designed to maximise the effectiveness of the natural ambient curing of blocks. This system eliminates the need for additional energy-intensive measures such as steam curing or other artificial forced heating systems. Heat generated from the curing process will be re-used to maximise energy efficiency.  Other highlights include:

  • A large volume, high speed mixing system which will ensure product quality and consistency from batch to batch.
  • A fully automatic continually monitored block press to produce blocks to exacting tolerances and maximum strengths.
  • A completely integrated handling and curing system designed to maintain product quality and eliminate handling damage.
  • A high speed double cubing system capable of packaging the product into various formats to meet customer’s requirements.
  • Noise reduction and dust suppression is designed into the entire process with a focus on health, welfare and safety.

In order to minimise disruption to production and to meet customer demands, the new facility is being constructed alongside our existing factory which will keep producing until the new plant is ready. This will allow a comprehensive commissioning phase in which we can ensure that the product and process is fully optimised; we can then simply switch over seamlessly to commence production on the new facility. We will continue to use locally sourced, high quality raw materials to support local economies and communities in a sustainable manner.

We are committed to providing the very best possible quality products which will consistently and reliably meet our customer’s requirements whilst minimising our environmental impact. This major investment demonstrates this commitment which has served us well since our establishment 1830.
