Thomas Armstrong (Concrete Blocks) Ltd recognise the need to protect the environment from pollution, minimise the use of natural resources and maximise the use of recycled and reuseable material in our products.
As part of this committment, we aim to run an Environmental Management system in each of our factories in line with the requirments of the international standard BS EN ISO 14001:2004.
In March 2009 we successfully achieved certification for our Airtec production facility at Brompton-on-Swale, Catterick. A copy of the certificate can be downloaded opposite.
In May 2011 we successfully achieved certification for our Ultralite, Insulite lightweight and dense concrete block manufacturing facilities at Rowlands Gill (Newcastle) and Stocks Brothers Ltd (Leeds). Copies of the certifcate for each of these locations can be downloaded opposite.
In all other factories we already operate in line with our Environmental Policy and our Pollution Prevention Licences which are audited by the local authorities with the aim to achieve ISO 14001 shortly.
The remaining sites in the concrete block manufacturing sector of our group are now undergoing the installation of ISO 14001 systems and we envisage completion of this process within the next year, i.e. May 2012. This process will encompass our William Rainford (Holdings) Ltd, Barnetts (Buglawton) Ltd and Coulthard Concrete Products (1980) Ltd operations.
